Greg Jackson confirmed today he will be in my corner for UFC 145

Last year former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and  Jackson’s MMA ‘divorced’ over what Evans perceived as bias towards  fellow Jackson’s team mate and current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion  Jon Jones.

When the Evans vs. Jones fight was initially announced, Jackson said  he was in all likelihood going to step back and allow another team coach  to work Jones’ corner. Evans will have coaches from his new camp at  Imperial MMA.

For whatever reason, Jackson is now determined to corner against his former student.

The fight, which multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.com, will take place at UFC on Fox 2, the promotion’s second show on the network.

It’s not the first time the UFC has booked this matchup. The two were scheduled to meet in August at UFC 133 in Philadelphia, but that bout fell through when Davis suffered a knee injury.

Evans (16-1-1) will look to solidify his place as the No. 1 contender at 205 pounds. He’s currently riding a three-fight win streak, including a second-round TKO win over late-replacement Tito Ortizin August.

The former champion had been next in line to fight title-holder Jon Jones following that win, but had to postpone the opportunity due to a hand injury. Jones is scheduled to defend the belt against Lyoto Machidaon Dec. 10.

For Davis (9-0), Evans represents easily the biggest test of his young career. The former collegiate wrestler is 4-0 in the UFC and coming off a unanimous decision win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueirain March.

The Evans-Davis fight is expected to headline the UFC on Fox 2 card, which takes place at the United Center in Chicago.

The UFC’s first FX-televised event has its headliner.
UFC officials today announced the debut UFC on FX event will feature a three-round lightweight main event between contenders Melvin Guillard (29-9-2 MMA, 10-5 UFC) and Jim Miller (20-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC).
As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently reported, the event is expected to take place Jan. 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., though officials haven’t formally announced the details.
The night’s main card airs on FOX-owned FX and marks the UFC’s debut on the top-10 cable station. FX will become home to many UFC events, as well as “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, beginning in 2012.
Both Guillard and Miller look to get back in prime title contention following recent high-profile losses.
Guillard suffered a crushing 47-second submission loss to underdog Joe Lauzon this past month at UFC 136. The Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter had been riding an impressive five-fight win streak and had resurrected his career with a more disciplined (but equally hard-hitting) style. Additionally, he was all but guaranteed a title shot if he had knocked off Lauzon, who stunned Guillard with an early punch and then swiftly tapped him out.
Miller, meanwhile, had even longer streak and had pieced together seven consecutive wins heading into a UFC on Versus 5 showdown with Ben Henderson. Like Guillard, Miller was all but guaranteed a title shot with a victory, but Henderson shut him down en route to a lopsided unanimous-decision win. Prior to the setback, Miller went 15-1 over a 16-fight span, and his lone defeat came to recent title challenger Gray Maynard.

The UFC has suspended Chris Leben for one year due to a failed drug test.
The veteran middleweight tested positive for the prescription painkillers oxycodone and oxymorphone following his UFC 138 main-event loss to Mark Munuz earlier this month.
UFC officials, who oversaw regulation for the overseas event, today announced the suspension.
UFC 138 took place Nov. 5 at LG Arena in Birmingham, England. Munoz vs. Leben was part of a main card that aired via same-day delay on Spike TV. Munoz earned a second-round TKO victory when Leben’s corner deemed him unable to continue for the third round.
This is Leben’s second suspension following a failed drug test, and it’s the second time the UFC was forced to hand down the punishment. Leben also tested positive for the banned steroid Stanozolol following a 2008 loss to Michael Bisping at UFC 89. Like UFC 138, UFC 89 took place in the U.K., where there is no official sanctioning/regulatory body. In such situations, the UFC brings in an outside company to conduct drug testing.
“I would like to make it known that I fully accept this suspension and apologize for embarrassing the UFC, my friends and family, and sport of mixed martial arts,” Leben stated. “I’m learning that I’m my own worst enemy sometimes. I can’t succeed in the octagon or in life behaving this way. I’ve got to make some real changes over the next year, and I’m going to focus on getting my life and career back on track. Again, I’m sorry to the UFC and fans that’ve supported me since my days on ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’”
Despite two failed tests, UFC president Dana White made no mention of cutting the fighter from the UFC’s roster.
“I like Chris, and I want him to do well, but based on his actions, he’s been suspended for one year,” White stated. “If he needs professional help, we are going to be there for him. We want to see him succeed not only in the octagon but in his personal life.”
Leben (22-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) first joined the UFC in 2005. He was on a stellar 4-1 run before the recent loss to Munoz (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC), who is expected to fight in a No. 1 contender’s bout in his next outing.
All other 19 fighters on the UFC 138 card passed their drug tests, according to the UFC.
